Paul Kane's Artwork

During a two-and-a-half year trip across the wilderness of North America, Paul Kane recorded the lives of Native North Americans through sketches and journal entries.

Upon his return to Toronto, Kane turned his field sketches into a popular series of romantic oil paintings, thereby influencing domestic and international perceptions of North American Aboriginal people for the next 150 years.
